Rio Tinto approves investment in iron ore projects at Pilbara

British-Australian miner Rio Tinto has approved investment of $1.2 bln into development of iron ore mines inPilbara region. The investments are aimed at expansion of Brockham 4 and Western Turner Syncline open-pitmines. Thus, the producer will increase planned production of lump iron ore and fines from 220 mtpy to 283 mtpyby the end of H2 2013.
