Turkish import scrap market awaiting September

Turkish market for import scrap is still in a wait-and-see mode during Ramadan while buying activity in the Mid-Eastern market forsemis and rebar is minimal. Turkish steelmakers cannot afford buying new scrap seeing poor sales of steel products. Althoughmost traders forecast improvements in the finished steel market as soon as next month, steelmakers prefer not to hurry and areavoiding new deals. Moreover, importers still remember the growth in spring, the speculations on which ended up with threemonthlong recession and price roll-back to December levels.
