Pakistan: scrap prices soar

Prices for ferrous scrap are surging in the Pakistani market this week. Exporters are raising their offers to Pakistan in viewof revival of demand for the material in other regions. US shredded scrap is offered at $430-440/t C&F Quasim, Karachi($490-500/t delivered, including all taxes and duties effective in the country) now, by an average of $35/t up from earlyNovember. European scrap of the same quality is available at the similar prices. Pakistani producers imported about 188,800 tof scrap in September 2010, by 2% up from August and by 78% up y-o-y.
