Cargo transshipment totals 13 mt at Baltic ports in May. Iron ore shipments slump, handling of chemicals hits a new high

In May, overall cargo transshipment fell to 12.6 mt at the Balticports (down 171,000 t from April). In Tallinn, handling dwindled by352,000 t to 3.27 mt, whereas Klaipeda port enlargedtransshipment by 222,000 t m-o-m to 3.19 mt. At other ports of theregion, the figures stayed largely unchanged in May.Contraction of bulk oil transshipment at Tallinn port (down461,000 t to 2.29 mt) caused a decline in total bulk oil handling to5.3 mt in the region (down 327,000 t). Increased shipments fromKlaipeda (up 154,000 t to 855,000 t) partially offset declines atEstonian ports.
