On the Saturday before July 4, many Americans were eagerly anticipating the short workweek ahead of them. They were looking forward to the holiday and spending time with family and friends, picnicking, watching fireworks or just relaxing. But thousand of Ohioans spent June 30 honoring soldiers serving in the war on terrorism and remembering those who have lost their lives in military efforts since 9-11. They gathered at the recently completed state memorial in Sunbury, which is 10 minutes northeast of the Ohio capital, Columbus. It took the generosity of many individuals and companies to complete the Ohio Fallen Heroes Memorial. Among the contributors was Lancaster, Pa.-based Fabral, which became part of the project by supplying a roof system and copper copula for the memorial chapel. The site also includes monuments and statues, a Courtyard of Honor and Field of Crosses. The marble crosses, or markers, are placed for each fallen soldier.
