If your business includes installing rooftop components on metal buildings, or if that's a capability you are planning to offer, here are seven guidelines to help assure successful installations. Those components can include metal building (MB) curbs to support a fan or HVAC unit, snow guards, etc. 1. The most basic principle is to minimize on-site labor to the maximum extent possible. That means using prefabricated components whenever they are available. If that's not practical, pre-cut components in the shop and take them to the jobsite. Some components, like roof curbs, require insulation, so they should be pre-insulated, if possible, by the curb manufacturer. Any mounting holes should be pre-punched, and welds required should be continuous and of high quality to prevent leaks.
