摘要

Tomato (Solarium lycopersicum L.) is one of the most popular vegetable crops of tropical countries and it can be grown throughout the year. It is more susceptible to nematode invasion due to multiple cropping pattern, good moisture level prevailing and continued presence of the host. Root-knot nematodes have been reported to cause losses ranging from 15 to 60 per cent in vegetable crops (Jain et al., 1994; Ravichandra, 2008). However, 35 per cent yield loss has been reported in tomato (Jonathan, 2001). Meloidogyne incognita is the most dominant species accounting for 64 per cent of total population (Sasser, 1980). Bacterial wilt caused by Ralstonia solanacearum is one of the most destructive diseases wherever tomato is grown extensively.
