Evaluation of Light Irrigated Cropping Sequences Suitable for Upland Situations of Bhadra Command Area

Among the crop sequences tried in upland, sunflower crop equivalent yield was highest in maize-sunhemp-sunflower sequence (1436 kg / ha) followed by maize-groundnut sequence (1371 kg / ha). With respect of net returns and benefit cost ratio maize-sunhemp-sunflower sequence realized highest (Rs. 29509 / ha and 2.26 respectively), followed by maize-groundnut sequence (Rs. 25911 / ha and 1.76 respectively). Maize-groundnut sequence recorded highest total productivity (7185 kg / ha / year) followed by maize -sunhemp-sunflower sequence (6862 kg / ha / year). This indicates maize sequences are more productive and economically viable. Considerable improvement in status of soil properties was also noticed with the adoption of different cropping sequences, in particularly in situ of sunhemp.
