Among the eight pre-release and six released varieties of finger millet evaluated for their reaction against neck and finger blast and yield performance during the kharif 2004 and 2005 at the Zonal Agricultural Research Station, University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore. It was found that the pipeline varieties TN AU 946 and HR 911 x Sel. 14 were resistant against blast. The cross HR 911 x Sel. 14 was the top yielder followed by DPI 20030. However, the three GPU varieties 28, 45 and 48 continued their resistance to both neck and finger blasts.
