Effect of Integrated Use of Organic Manures and Fertilizer on Growth and Yield of Wheat

摘要

Wheat is an important crop of Madhya Pradesh which occupies an area of 48 lakh hectares with the production of 96 lakh tonnes. The average productivity of wheal is 2000 kg / ha which is low as compared to national average. Application of both organicmanures and inorganic fertilizer may bring about some change in soil properties and also influence the availability of native nutrients, which are released slowly and steadily to the plant for a considerable period of time resulting in favourable residual effect on succeeding crop. Presently increasing number of organic consumers want to avoid artificial compounds such as those involved in the production of crops like pesticides, herbicides and fertilizer which has a negative and wider impact on the ecosystem and also detrimental to the human health (Alistair et al. 2008). The application of inorganic fertilizer even in balance form may not sustain the soil fertility and productivity under continuous wheat cropping. However, integrated use of inorganicand organic including crop residues may improve the soil productivity (Chettry and Bandopadhyay, 2005). Farmyard manures is a proven source of nutrient in agricultural crops but its availability is quite inadequate (Mishra and Prasad, 2000). Integratednutrient management system in Durum wheat has not been studied in Rewa region of Madhya Pradesh.
