Differences in anatomy, hormonal milieu, and socioeconomic factors have all been suggested as possible reasons for this discrepancy. A recent study in the British Journal of Urology International has now investigated whether this 'gender gap' could be due to differences in clinical symptoms or referral patterns between male and female patients.
