New NDT Qualifications

NDT personnel qualification in two new categories has been developed by the Australian Institute for non-destructive Testing (AINDT). As a result of an Australian industry request, AINDT has developed a qualification program for personnel carrying out testing of above ground storage tanks using magnetic flux leakage (MFL) techniques. This program is based on AS4635 / ISO 20807, Qualification of Personnel for Limited NDT, and guidelines contained within API 653 Appendix G. Examinations for this qualification, titled Tank Bottom Testing (TBT), have been available through the AINDT Certification Board since the July 2005 series of examinations. The TBT Qualification requires the candidate to use their company's MFL equipment and procedure for tank bottom testing.
