Gross - Anatomical Studies on the Nasal Meatuses of Yak (Bos grunniens) in Comparison with that of Zebu (Bos indicus)

Morphological characteristics of nasal meatuses in yak and zebu were studied. The dorsal nasal meatus was smallest in yak, while it was reduced in zebu. The meatus extended up to the dorsal commissure in yak and it extended up to vestibular part in zebu. The middle nasal meatus was larger in yak, while it was smallest in zebu; as it bifurcated at the level of 1st cheek tooth and communicated with the frontal sinus. The ventral nasal meatus was wider and spacious in yak, while it was longest in zebu.The common nasal meatus was less longer and narrower in yak in comparison to zebu.
