Additive manufacturing (AM) or 3D printing may have been around for decades, but it is only in the last few years that it has really taken off as a commercially viable process capable of disrupting traditional manufacturing techniques. Today, on the back of burgeoning scientific research and public sector investment, printing technologies are rapidly developing, in terms of accuracy, speed, materials and affordability. Many industries, governments and members of the public now understand the revolutionary potential of 3D printing.
