摘要

An experiment was conducted over three seasons (rainy season of 2003, summer and rainy seasons of 2004) to study the genetic divergence in twenty genotypes of cowpea obtained from different genetic approaches. Significant differences were recorded among the genotypes for all the characters studied. Twenty genotypes were grouped into nine diverse clusters based on D2 values. Genotype IL3 formed solitary cluster. Plant height, primary branches, clusters per plant, days to flowering, seeds per pod and seed yield per plant contributed more to the diversity. The diverse genotypes namely IL3, Bailhongal local, C-152, M-22 and IL-2 were identified and these lines can be used for breeding programmes to generate a broad spectrum of variability.
