Correlation between indirect haemagglutination antibody titres and passive mouse protection test of Pasteurella multocida broth vaccine with different adjuvants

An experimental study was carried out to analyse the degree of correlation between Indirect haemagglutination (IHA) antibody titres and Passive mouse protection test (PMPT) for 25 LD_(50) and 50 LD_(50) challenge doses, using the post vaccination sera collected at monthly interval from the experimental dairy cattle vaccinated with four vaccine products by incorporating different adjuvants viz., potash alum, bentonite clay, Mycobacterium phlei, and vaccine without adjuvant (non adjuvanted-vaccine). Agood correlation between IHA antibody titres and PMPT was observed with all the four vaccine products for both 25 LD_(50) and 50 LD_(50) challenge doses, with a correlation coefficient of 0.830 and 0.894, respectively. Higher the IHA titre, more was theprotection rate observed, for both the challenge doses.
