Quantifying changes in the brain after radiotherapy for diffuse low-grade gliomas (DLGG) is difficult. A team led by Johan Pallud at Paris Descartes University, France, have shown that the response of DLGG to radiotherapy can be assessed by measuring the velocity of diametric expansion (VDE)-a measurement of change in the diameter of a tumour over time-using MRI data. "The aim of the present study was ... to determine if this quantative dynamic criterion can represent a prognostic factor for long-term outcomes of DLGG in adults," explains Pallud.
