Type 1 iodothyronine deiodinase is the major source of circulating T_3 in hyperthyroidism: implications for therapy

This was a 21 -day, prospective, randomized, open-label study of consecutive patients with newly diagnosed hyperthyroidism caused by Graves' disease or multinodular toxic goiter. Patients who were receiving medication known to affect thyroid hormone levels or thyroid function were excluded.
