EFFECT OF PACAP ON LH RELEASE AND INTRACELLULAR CALCIUM MOBILIZATION IN PORCINE PITUITARY CELLS

摘要

Pituitary adenylate cyclase-activating polypeptide (PACAP) is suggested to control the activity of pituitary cells. Here we demonstrate that PACAP acts directly on gonadotrope cells increasing LH release, modulating the action of Gonadotropin Releasing Hormone (GnRH) and inducing mobilization of free cytosolic calcium ([Ca2+](i)) PACAP could play a physiological role in the regulation of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis.
