In this study, we synthesized a three-dimensional ordered macroporous (3DOM) SnO_(2) material using the polystyrene (PS) colloidal crystal template. The 3DOM structure was observed from the micrographs of scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) The 3DOM SnO_(2) material delivers the initial specific capacities of 1572 mAh g~(-1) and 709 mAh g~(-1) when it is charged/discharged at 0.1 C in the potential ranges of 0-2.0 V and 0-0.8 V, respectively It shows better cycling performance in the potential range of 0-0.8 V than 0-2.0 V. The results suggest a potential application of the 3DOM SnO_(2) material in the lithium ion batteries.
