The three-dimensionally ordered macroporous (3DOM) ZrO_(2):Ti materials were successfully synthesized by the sol-gel method combined with a polystyrene (PS) latex sphere templating technique. Their crystal structure, morphology, and photoluminescence properties were systematically investigated in this paper. SEM images displayed a well long-ranged ordered structure and uniform pore sizes 3DOM ZrO_(2) sample prepared by using the precursor solution with a dilution ratios of 1:2. Two bands centered at 320 and 470 nm, respectively, were observed in the 3DOM ZrO_(2):Ti, which were caused by the different defects. The electrons trapped by oxygen vacancies creating F centers recombined with the holes yielding the 320 nm luminescence. The 470 nm broad band emission with long afterglow is originated by the detrapping of the trapped electrons to the Ti luminescence centers.
