Beyond their role in increasing blood flow and nutrient delivery to tumours, endothelial cells (ECs) also express factors (termed angiocrine factors) that might promote tumour progression and therapeutic resistance, but how this works mechanistically is unclear. Shahin Rafii, Bi-Sen Ding and colleagues have identified a signalling pathway involving EC and lymphoma cell (LC) crosstalk that promotes tumour aggressiveness.
