Nanoassemblies of sulfonated polyaniline multilayers

A self-assembly layer-by-layer (LBL) technique wasused for the sequential adsorption of polycation,poly(diallyldimethy-lammonium chloride) (PDDA) and polyanion,sulfonated polyaniline (SPANI) on glass, indium-tin-oxide (ITO)coated glass plates, polystyrene sulfonate (PSS)/glass and PSS/ITOsurfaces, respectively. The building up of such multilayers wascharacterized by the increment of the adsorbed amount throughUV-visible spectroscopy and cyclic voltammetry. The atomic forcemicroscopic study showed the granular surface topology of suchself-assembled films of sulfonated polyaniline. PDDA/SPANILBL films were electrically active and detailed electrochemicalparameters were investigated.
