DEMAND OUTLOOK FOR ALUMINUM PRODUCTS IN JAPAN FOR FY 2003 (April 2003-March 2004)

The Japan Aluminium Association, the Japan Aluminium Alloy Refiners Association, and five other industry associations which make up the Aluminum Survey Committee released on March 27 the 2003 fiscal year demand outlook for aluminum products. The outlook says that total demand for aluminum products will grow 0.2 percent in fiscal 2003 to 4.031 million tons from the estimate for fiscal 2002. Domestic demand is forecast to increase 0.3 percent to 3.77 million tons and exports are expected to drop 1.9 percent to 261,000 tons.
