Estimation of Rolling Contact Fatigue Life through Evaluation of Cleanliness in Bearing Steel

摘要

A study in determining the quantitative relationship between the cleanliness of bearing steel and the rolling contact fatigue life is significant for material development to achieve the weight reduction and improve the reliability of rolling bearings. This Paper presents an estimation formula of rolling contact fatigue life which has been established by the multiple regression analysis with the evaluated values of non-metallic inclusions, impurities and rolling contact fatigue life. By this method, it is found quantitatively that the sulphide and titanium inclusions are harmful in addition to the oxide inclusions which have been recognized to be harmful for the rolling contact fatigue life.
