Influence ofphytogenic feed additives on the performance parameters of broilers:Tests with three products

According to a study by the Lower Saxony Ministry for Food, Agriculture, Consumer Protection and Land Development, antimicrobial active agents (in other words antibiotics) are used in 83 percent of the broiler farms examined and in 92 percent of the farms with turkey rearing and fattening. Reports of this kind lead to increasing levels of uncertainty among consumers and an ever more pressing wish for alternatives that have a positive effect on the welfare and hence on the performance of the animals.
