Generation of stair-step patterns from line source

摘要

Narrow beams are widely used for point to point communications as well as in high resolution radars. Flat or sector beams are used to cover wide angular regions. For airport surveillance and ground mapping, cosecant beams are radiated. Stair-step patterns are popularly used to identify more than one target moving in different altitudes and different angular regions. In the present work Woodward technique is extended to design aperture distribution for the generation of specified stair-step patterns. Both small and large arrays are designed for the above purpose.
