摘要

Using a calculating procedure combining finite element and boundary element method parameter studies have been executed concerning the sound radiation of principle-gearbox-housings (rectangular boxes) with stiffening ribs. These studies are partof a major project The results show that the radiated sound power depends on the arrangement and the height of the stiffening ribs. The average sound power level L{sub}w introduced as a characteristic parameter is used for deriving design rules forlow-noise gearbox housings. These design rules can be combined with other rules introduced earlier concerning the stiffness and strength of the housings. The aspect of increasing the weight by using stiffening ribs is included.
