Convertible roof mechanisms open up new perspectives

摘要

Aside from classic convertibles featuring textile soft-tops, markets are increasingly being claimed by convertibles using rigid roof elements (foldable bard-tops). This is a fair reason to describe roof mechanisms implemented as yet from a kinematic point of view and to discuss the design possibilities. For this purpose suitable procedures for the dimensional and tolerance synthesis of mechanisms prove very helpful
