World Gold Council welcomes government's draft policy on sovereign gold bonds

The government's proposed policy onsovereign gold bonds would provide investmentchoice to consumers and integrate gold furtherinto regulated fi nancial sector, the World GoldCouncil said today. With a view to curb demandfor physical gold, the government todayproposed to issue sovereign gold bonds. Adiscussion paper has been fl oated on the schemefor which comments are invited till July 2.
