A run of below-average seasons and more recent challenges, such as floods andlocusts, have brought many producers and rural businesses back to basics, to seek business management information and support from their peers as much as paid sources. The first producer-driven group under the spotlight is EDGE Management, a not-for-profit organisation formed to provide rural business members with advice and support through a peer network. EDGE Management started as a group more than 18 years ago. The groupaims to provide their farmer and small business members with profitable and professional support in business management, in an accountable way that encourages the generation of new business ideas.
