摘要

New tunnel houses are allowing CSIRO scientists to focus on synchronising wheat breeding with the components of projected climate change, as Kondinin Group's Caroline Fowler found out. Tunnel houses designed and built as part of the project 'Climate Ready Cereals' this season are located at the University of Western Australia (UWA) Research Station. The project is being carried out by CSIRO scientists in Queensland and Western Australia with funding from the Department of Agriculture Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF). Research carried out using the tunnels will provide information as to how climate change will affect the wheat genetic traits for which they have been selected.
