Turning up the haat on summer grasses

The record rainfall across eastern Australia has provided a fertile breeding ground for summer weeds and exacerbated the difficulty for northern growers to control summer grasses such as barnyard, liverseed, feathertop, Rhodes and sweet summer grass.To help growers with their weed problems, and also to slow the development of herbicide resistance, Queensland researchers have tested the success of various control methods. A strategic, long-term approach using a variety of chemical and non-chemical weed control tools targeting all parts of the weed lifecycle will achieve greater levels of control of summer weeds and reduce the risk of developing herbicide resistance.
