An increasing paranoia is sweeping parts of Europe - particularly those parts around Paris and Torino - that the mighty Volkswagen juggernaut can do no wrong. Those concerned parties should take heart, however, because I present to you the Volkswagen Golf R Cabriolet. When the last Golf R hatch (based on the Golf VI) launched, it had this very same 195kW engine with all-wheel drive in a strengthened Golf GTI body. Now, VW has decided to put the engine into the less rigid Cabrio body, but figures it can do without the extra traction. Or the current MQB-based body shell.
