If there was anything What could put AMG's extreme SLS supercar in its place, it'd be an SLS built for the racetrack. If you know your German motor racing history (and, really, who doesn't?) you'll know that the Schnell-fest that is AMG was kicked off in the late '60s and by the very early '70s was winning races at places like Spa with modified Mercedes-Benz road cars. And we're not talking 10-lap sprints, either; this was the golden age of 24-hour racing and AMG was right in the thick of it. So, the existence of the AMG SLS GT3 shouldn't come as any real shock to anybody with a working knowledge of the German competitive spirit. But while early AMG racecars were hotted up M-B roadies, what does it take to turn a modern 'Gullwing' AMG SLS supercar into a race-winner in the tough world of the FIA's international GT3 class?
