BMW M235i: Cracking drivetrain and chassis makes the new 2 the one

By the time the BMW 1-Series M tried to unload me for a third time, I came to the conclusion that, hot-poo turbo engine aside, this thing didn't deserve the 'M' tag. It looked clumsy and it didn't side-step at higher velocities. At the track it went wobbly at the first high-speed chicane. Of course, that was back in 2011. This year the new 2-Series arrives. And, of most interest to you lot is the M235i, which effectively replaces the 1-Series coupes and, therefore, the 1M. But is the new two-door just a rebadged 1-Series coupe with the number '2' on its rump?
