It's impossible not to be seduced by the brutal simplicity of the new Lotus Exige S. While other manufacturers produce crossover concepts that combine the aesthetics of Barbie with the smooth appeal of Ken, Lotus throws up a no-nonsense sports car of the old school. Selfconsciously described as Lotus' most focused model, the 'S' is also the fastest accelerating production car the British company has ever made. The Exige has always been a car for those who like their curries hot. And if the standard car is a madras, then the S is a vindaloo with extra zing. The focus of the transformation lies 15 centimetres behind the driver's head; a supercharger that raises the power output from 140kWto 163kW. In a car that weighs a mere 935kg, that's a major difference.
