It looks familiar. It sounds familiar. It is definitely a 911, through and through. But unlike the 997, which was a cleverly cost-conscious metamorphosis of the 996, the 2012 Porsche 991 is a brand new car. Its body is now an aluminium-intensive cocktail of alloy and steel. The more modern cab-forward design features lightweight panels, an adaptive rear wing that automatically varies height and angle in accordance with vehicle speed, a smarter optional panoramic sunroof and a redesigned interior inspired by Cayenne and Panamera models, as well as by six generations of 911s.
