If we learnt anything from our long-term Renaultsport Clio 197, it was to expect the unexpected. The fact that it sits on this page alongside a Clio F1 R27 is reason enough. Merely six months ago, Renault Oz was adamant that the Clio R27 wasn't heading Down Under, but now we have one to replace VAE-138 for a final two-month stint on our fleet. We're stoked to have it, but we pity those who had already bought 197s on the understanding that they couldn't do any better. For handling afficionados, there's plenty of justification in the R27's additional $3500 ask.
