The Chesapeake Bay is the largest estuary in the United States and is an important habitat to a diverse population of aquatic species. According to some studies, the quality of the water in the Bay has been poor to marginal for many years. To addresswater quality issues facing the Bay environmentalists, researchers and governmental agencies have taken a whole watershed approach to making improvements.
