New taxa of pleurotoid russulaceae

Russula lateralipes sp. nov. from Papua New Guinea and R. pleurogena sp. nov. from New Zealand are described in Russula sect. Lateralipedes sect. nov. They represent the first reports of pleurotoid species for Russula. The taxonomic importance of these taxa towards a better understanding and classification of pleurotoid Russulaceae is discussed. The description of a separate genus, Pleurogala, for Lactarius sect. Panuoidei is debated.
