The successive changeovers of production machinery to modern safety technology is commonplace in industrial automation. During retrofit of rubber injection molding machines for the production of high-quality rubber gaskets, the safety technology has been adapted to the new requirements in the sense of the current Machinery Directive. This problem was solved with a standardized security solution based on a modular safety system. The advantage of each machine, whether large or small, has a standardized design, which also retooling is accelerated, benefiting the maintenance department of clarity thus obtained. The central component of the new safety technology is the modular safety system (MSS) 3RK3 Siemens Sirius. Leave at the Advanced Base unit right up to nine expansion modules - fail-safe and standard - baying. For the Profibus communication can on the left side an appropriate add-on module to be supplemented. Is programmed using the MSS ES software from Siemens, the settings via a USB adapter or via Profibus communication to the device are transmitted.
