New stamp charging coke oven batteries at ZKS, Germany, with modern design approach

The saving of energy and reduction of pollution are key issues worldwide. The coking industry is being called upon to improve its technology and equipment to comply with the increasingly stringent environmental protection guidelines. In this scenario, Paul Wurth Italia put into operation the new coke oven battery No. 3 at the ZKS Dillingen plant, Germany. A single-oven pressure control system was implemented, thus allowing to keep the oven pressure constant during the whole coking process and eliminate emissions during oven charging. The second battery (No. 1) is under construction and will be in operation soon. The total production of both batteries will be some 1.3 million t/year of coke.
