Continuous levodopa delivery by duodenal levodopa/carvi-dopa intestinal gel (LCIG) infusion (Duodopa) is an established therapeutic approach to control motor fluctuations and dyskinesias in advanced Parkinson's disease. It provides more stable plasma levels than oral treatment does, resulting in effective control of motor complications, and thus improves the quality of life of the patients. Unfortunately, a considerable number of adverse events related to the gastrostomy/infusion system have been reported so far.
