Research and development of the information system for building-regional environmental evaluation

The IPCC Fourth Assessment Report (Summary for Policymakers) 2007 described themost important matters for mitigation. Architectural methods that take account of globalenvironmental conservation generally concentrate on mitigating the heat load of build-ings. At the National Institute for Environmental Studies (NIES) Climate Change Re-search Hall (CCRH: ferroconcrete, 3 floors, 4900 m2 total floor space), we collect alarge amount of data on energy consumption, heating ventilation and air conditioning(HVAC) operation, the indoor environment, weather etc., and use it to develop systemsthat automatically control HVAC and lighting, thereby achieving both environmentalcomfort and energy conservation (Yoshida et al., 2006, 2008).
