Urban heat island (UHI) is most studied topic in urban climatology, especially for temperatecities. However, the UHI studies are limited in (sub)-tropical cities, which has been experiencedthe fast urbanization since the 1950s. Hong Kong has hot humid sub-tropical climate and highdensity urban morphology. Recently local people are more and more concerning their livingenvironment. It is important to let urban planners, architects to take more climatic considerationin their design and mitigate the UHI. Thus, there is a need to summary the urban heat islandstudies:in Hong Kong.
