SUMMARY OF MONTHLY RUBBER STATISTICS MALAYSIA May 2008

Production of natural rubber (NR) in May 2008 was recorded at 82,468 tonnes, an increase of 10.9% (8,132 tonnes) when compared with April 2008. Year-on-year, production recorded a decrease of 7.7%. The smallholding sector contributed 95.3% of total production while the estate sector, the remaining 4.7%. Total production in the first five months of 2008 amounted to 475,233 tonnes, a decrease of 3.3% when compared with the corresponding period in 2007.
