Study on wind environment influenced by urban block propertiesin the street canyon

Recently, the urban heat island becomes a social problem in the urban environment. It is thoughtto be one of the effective heat island measures to promote natural ventilation in the street can-yon. The study on the relationship between wind environment and urban block properties isrequired. Therefore in this study, wind environment in the street canyon influenced by direc-tions of the street, the street width and the building height beside the street is studied by numeri-cal calculation. Wind velocity ratio, which is obtained by dividing the wind velocity in the streetcanyon by the upper wind velocity, is used for the index of natural ventilation.
