Operational Cost of production of the creation of Thailand tilapia in net cage, of small volume, installed in fish farm ponds populated and not populated.

abstract_textpThe objective of this study was to analyze the operational cost of production of Thai tilapia created in net cage of small volume placed in populated or not populated ponds. The experiment was carried out in Pindamonhangaba, Sao Paulo, Brazil, from of 01 of February the 17 of April of 2001 (summer/autumn). Two 2,400 m(2) ponds (V-1 and V-2) were used and six 1 m(3) cages with Thai tilapia males at densities of 200, 250 and 300 fish/m(3) with one replication by the treatment, were provide for each pond. V-2 was also populated with 4,800 free males units of Thai tilapia. Were determined: the initial weight and final, and calculated, the survival, the average daily weight gain, the total biomass, biomass of the gain and feed conversion apparent. The gotten economic results in this work, for its scale of production, will have greater importance in the case of the creation to be a complementary activity of the property. It was concluded that the creation of Thai tilapia in net cage of a small volume in ponds, during the summer/autumn, in southeastern Brazil is recommended with activity of economic interest. The final output and economic indicators obtained with the establishment of Thai tilapia in the two systems (with and without fish ponds free) showed that, with the creation in free fish ponds, was better than the system with only confined in the net cage./p/abstract_text
