Manual medicine in the context of remedy combinations and medical exercise therapy

In the management of functional disorders of the postural and locomotor system for which manual medicine/manual therapy has been prescribed, there are considerable differences to be found in the various systems for reimbursement of expenses, some of which are unsatisfactory. Thus, it is possible to employ manual therapy wisely as a single treatment regimen and as a combination remedy in outpatient, partial hospitalization, and inpatient settings of rehabilitation units as covered by private health insurances, the statutory accident insurance, emergency in-hospital treatment, and rehabilitation therapy. This option is not available under statutory health insurances since manual medicine or remedy combinations can only be prescribed to a limited extent according to the Guideline on Remedies 1.
